Spring, no matter where you are, is the beginning of life. We always knew spring was “just around the corner” when the first red robin reappeared in Denver, Colorado, even if there were snow on the ground.

Spring in Michigan means the snow is beginning to melt, the days are longer and winter coats are heading for the closet.

We know it’s spring in Phoenix because we can leave our doors open all evening and enjoy a warm breeze, even though hot summer days are just around the corner.

Spring at the flower shop means tulips and daffodils, iris and godesia are arriving at the shop as we renew the season.

Spiritually, spring signifies freedom.  The fact that this year Passover and Easter almost coincide is a feat of solar and lunar calendars coming together to celebrate spring.

Celebrated the first Sunday after the first full moon after the first day of spring, Easter is recognized as the day Jesus Christ was resurrected and rebirth began. Families gather for Easter services and are greeted by beautiful blooming Easter lilies. Easter is celebrated with parades, new clothes, fancy hats and festive fun.

Passover is celebrated as we remember the exodus from Egypt after more than 400 years of slavery and bondage. We remember with joy the feelings of the Hebrews as they left Egypt with their children and grandchildren, as if we, ourselves, were being freed on that special day. We celebrate with large feasts, sweet food, singing and dancing, family and friends.

“Good Friday and the first evening of Passover 2015–The great religious celebrations of Passover and Easter will be even more special this year from a Christian perspective because the first evening of Passover is set to coincide with the Christian celebration of Good Friday this year. What this essentially means for Christians is that the celebration of the Paschal Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday) will be closely aligned with the Jewish Passover feast, very similar to how it actually occurred at the time of Jesus’s death on (or around)  the year 33 A.D. –

What this means is that this year the Jewish celebration of the Passover Seder–which was the event that was occurring the night that Jesus celebrated the Last Supper— will occur on the night of Good Friday this year, which is exactly one day later than when Jesus celebrated it on Holy Thursday, that is, the night before his holy death.
Jewish law does not allow for the first evening of Passover to fall on a Thursday, so it is currently not possible for the two great Feasts to align precisely as they did at the time of Jesus, and so this year’s dates are aligned as close as they can get to what actually occurred during Jesus passion and death.”
