September 7 | Grandparent’s Day

Did you know we celebrate Grandparent’s Day on September 7?

 <img src="image.gif" alt="Grandma and Grandpa" />

Celebrated on the first Sunday after Labor Day since 1978, it is a day set aside to celebrate grandparents! What a wonderful day!

Being a grandparent is a wonderful experience! There’s nothing quite like it. You can entertain, spoil, enjoy and play, and then return your grandchildren to their parents for discipline! You don’t get too tired because you don’t have to spend more time than you want to, and you can pick and choose the activities, too. Want to go to the zoo? Great! Want to go to a concert? Wonderful! How about the circus? Those are grandparent activities!

There is no question that grandparents and older members of the family/community are important to the structure of society in nurturing and sometimes upbringing or educating the children.  Grandparents Day honors and gives a mutual opportunity to take time to show each other some love and respect that might otherwise get lost during the course of our busy lives. It also helps children become more aware of the strength and wisdom older people can offer.

What types of gifts are appropriate for Grandparent’s Day?

Fresh fruit and flowers are great!

Here’s a sneak peak at a gift basket that hasn’t even been placed on the website yet!

Or, consider adding a little spice to Grandparents Day with a Southwest Fiesta Gift Basket from Basket Express!

Every grandma loves flowers!

Here are some floral arrangements that haven’t yet made it to the website! That means you’d be the FIRST ONE to order it for your grandma!

  1. Great reminder! The fiesta basket sure looks fun!

    • Thanks, Sandra!! We sell a lot of Fiesta Baskets, and we’re fortunate to have a diverse community and ethnic foods available to us all year ’round!

  2. What a lovely way to honour grandparents and I honestly didn’t even know about this Tina, until you started to ask about it. I have to tell my daughter, as my 98-year-old mother is her only living grandparent. Love the ideas you suggested here too for the different baskets and also the flowers. Something for everyone!

    • Thanks, Beverley! I’m glad I was able to tell you about Grandparent’s Day. I hope your daughter uses this day as an ‘excuse’ to do or send something nice to her grandmother.
