Kalanchoe
What, you ask, is a Kalanchoe? Well, that’s a very good question. Pronounced kal-un-KOH-ee, I usually pronounce it similar to Colangelo (as in Jerry, as in the Phoenix Suns)! Either way, it’s a beautiful, long lasting blooming plant that comes in assorted colors. Even here in the desert it can last for a few weeks, or even more, if it’s carefully maintained.
Pursuant to Costa Farms, one of the largest growers, you are to place the kalanchoe in a sunny spot, indoors or out. Because this is a succulent you only need to water it when the soil feels super dry to the touch. The branches are tender and break easily so be careful when moving or transplanting. This plant is not recommended for human or animal consumption.
Spring is Kalanchoe season, and this hearty plant is the perfect gift for a spring party, a graduation, a housewarming, for Mom for Mother’s Day or Easter.
Pamela will choose the color or another blooming plant if a Kalanchoe is not available and we’ll deliver for you! What a wonderful gift you are sending in the spring!
