Special Orders Don’t Upset Us
Do you remember the Burger King ad: “Hold the pickles, Hold the lettuce, Special orders don’t upset us” ?
That’s how we feel at Roadrunner Florist!
We are happy to design and deliver floral arrangements that meet your special requests!
John’s beautiful wife loves purple. We design purple floral arrangements for her several times a year. This time he asked for “a very nice “purple” collection, maybe tulips, roses, orchids or other such purple flowers with some nice complimentary colors in a nice arrangement.” This is what we sent for him.
I had the pleasure of speaking with a lady from Sonora, Mexico. She found us on facebook and, interestingly enough, she and her husband lived only a few blocks from our shop for many years. On the occasion of their 20th anniversary she wanted to send him 20 red roses and an enclosure card that she sent to me by email (people do this all the time…that way there is no mistake in the sentiment they want to write). 20 red roses, designed by Pamela and delivered to the Executive Sous Chef at one of our wonderful hotels.
Vern called and said it was a very special occasion for his wife. She had been promoted at work and he wanted to send her 2 dozen roses, 12 red and 12 white. An interesting order, that we were happy to fill for him. He wanted “contemporary”, a dozen red roses in a white vase and a dozen white roses in a red vase.
David’s wife favorite flowers are roses and tulips, and her favorite colors are pink and yellow! Hmmm…I wonder what we could do with that! How about pink roses and yellow tulips!
Lynda asked for something short and unique. She said her sister loves hydrangea and she wanted something special for her 39th birthday. Tina designed this short cube and we delivered it in time to celebrate with her! We call it Sassy Fun!
Our friend D’Linda orders flowers or gift baskets for her sister-in-law at least twice a year. She always leaves the creation in our hands because, in her words, “you know her better than I do!” For her birthday this year we decided to send an amazing Hawaiian tropical arrangement, because we know the recipient loves to visit Hawaii every summer. This arrangement was so well received, her partner said she was going to “take the vase, fill it with seashells and put it in my office” after the oohs and ahhs were over.
Donna called very early one Sunday morning and wanted to order flowers for a special friend at St. Joseph’s Hospital. We deliver to St Joseph’s Hospital every day, and we were happy to help her. Donna wanted to send roses, but not red, and short because she was sure her friend didn’t have a lot of space in her hospital room. She saw a picture on another website and we were able to take her idea and make it her own. This is the rose arrangement we designed and delivered for Donna: 3 yellow and 3 white roses in a cube. Wonderful!
We love yelpers! They find us and visit our website or call with a special request. Tracy found us on yelp! She said her best friend had surgery and needed some beautiful flowers. Tracy was in Canada at the time, she searched on yelp, read our reviews, and then googled to find us! Way to Go, Tracy!
Tracy said her “best friend’s favorite color is purple, she loves lavender and she wears a lot of pink.” Here’s a custom designed rendition of the Pink Stunning Beauty we designed for Tracy!

Real People Designing Floral Arrangements for Real People
In my world as a designer, it is all about custom and special order, so I can totally relate. The arrangements all look so beautiful. Quite a happy bunch of customers I’m sure
Oh, Veronica, you and I are both in the “design” world, and yes, custom orders are the backbone of our businesses. In my world, people visit the Internet and see a picture and then they want us to produce what they see. We call that “click and magic”. Unfortunately “magic” doesn’t always happen (flowers are out of season, for example) and people are disappointed. However, if a customer will call us directly and allow us to perform our own “magic”, then they are not disappointed and there is floral magic!
All very beautiful arrangements and all unique to your clients. Being able to know your clients and meet their needs is such an amazing feeling. This is what keep s people coming. So much of the personal touch has been lost in our society. Refreshing to see you still apply that in all you do.
Thank you so much, Meryl, for noticing the value of being unique.
Fabulous. Each and every arrangement clearly fit the special requests and what you knew about the person. I loved them all and especially loved seeing the creativity to the known facts. It is great that your customers with special requests tell you what they want or about the giftee. I bet you try to get that info out of customers on all your orders, like asking her favorite colors, flowers, etc.
Yes, Roz, one of the first questions I ask is “does she have a favorite flower or color?” Often times they don’t know, which is fun because then we can be even more creative! This is why it’s so important to educate the consumer of the value of dealing with real people and real flower shops instead of a 1800flowernumber where the people are in India taking orders from pictures off the Internet.
Great looking flowers I think all of them are great gifts.
Thanks, Phoo!! Each person was happy and we’re delighted we could offer this type of customer service for them.
These are all so lovely! Keep up the great work!
Thanks, Deborah!! We are doing our best to make our customers happy!
A dozen white rose rose with red vase is my favorite! Partner this with a box of chocolates and you’ve made my whole month! Lol!
Roses and chocolates! Terrific!! I’m glad you thought of it! Thanks!!
I love all these arrangements. The purple ones are really pretty.
Thanks, Marilyn!! I love purple ones, too!
These are all such beautiful arrangements! I really love the color schemes you’ve chosen, they all work beautifully together. I think the hardest part for me would be getting the symmetry of each one down. You have to make sure everything is visually appealing from all angles. You’ve done a beautiful job!
Thank you Lesley, for your understanding of the eye-appeal of floral design. Although many arrangements are made symmetrically, more modern arrangements are not.
Wow…lovely and even unique. I really appreciate when something can be fitted for different occasions
Thank you, Sharon. We pride ourselves in being able to help our customers for their special occasions.
